More Ways You Can Help

Turn your computer off

Computers used to take more energy to boot than to stay running. But now, computers are more energy-efficient during startup. So if you are going to be away from your computer for more than an hour, shut it down.

Recycle your computers

Visit the EPA's web site to find out where you can recycle or donate your used computers locally.

Change your lightbulbs

Switch from regular incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent lightbulbs and save 60% more energy.

In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Cannon Trading is proud to announce our Green Earth Futures initiative (read the full press release).

Each time a new trading account is opened, Cannon Trading will plant a tree in a damaged American national forest. In addition, for each new account we will make a donation that preserves 250 square feet of rainforest.

Reforestation

Each tree planted goes towards rebuilding America's national forests, restoring areas damaged by diseases, insects, and wildfire. Through reforestation we help add beauty to the landscape, provide habitat and food sources for wildlife, decrease risks of soil erosion and water pollution, and ensure quality of life for citizens in surrounding communities.

Rainforest Preservation

In cooperation with The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International, and various local nongovernmental organizations, the Arbor Day Foundation preserves 250 square feet of rainforest in land that holds much of the planet's fresh water, is home to more than half of Earth's 30 million bird, animal, insect, and plant species, and provides many of today's medicines and tomorrow's cancer-fighting drugs.

We have also put together a list of resources on the right side of this page for futures traders who want to learn more about what they can do to help the environment.

"Coast to coast, from Shoshone to Sierra, Gallatin to Davy Crockett, they are more than our National Forests. They are national treasures.

They provide wood, habitat, clean air, and drinking water for millions of us. But they are being destroyed as never before by devastating fires."

— The Arbor Day Foundation
