Futures Trading Levels & Economic Calendar for September 1st, 2009

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Greetings!

August is over and I hope everyone will enjoy a great trading month in September.

Historically, Sept. has higher volatility than August, which is something day-traders look for. As far as longer term perspective, my opinion is that if SP500 can break below 1008 we may get a down move towards 931-972 region (See daily chart below)

Greetings!

Intraday ranges are slowly getting wider. I think that volatility can really pick up after Labor Day weekend. In between understand the type of trading enviroment you’re in and how you should adjust your trading style to different volatility levels, different times of the year, even different times during the trading day.

To hear more about my different observations for day-trading, diffeent indicators I use, money management techniques etc. you can register to attend a daily webinar that takes place by visiting: http://www.cannontrading.com/traders/live-day-trading-webinar.php

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Greetings!

Not much is going in the market and that allows me to touch on a different aspect of trading, the mental part.

I think that once a trader accepts the following facts, he/she can trade with a better, clearer perspective:

1. You will have losing trades
2. Some trading days are better than others
3. No one single trade or one single trading day should determine your success, hence make sure you have strict daily money management rules
4. Losses are emotionally more painful than the joy we get from winners
5. Day-trading has to make sense statistically, emotionally and financially.

Once you understand and accept these facts you can go about formulating a good trading game plan.

Hope these tidbits help!

Good Trading!

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Greetings!

It is rare that periods of high or in this case LOW volatility last for long with out a shift in volatility. I suspect that once the “summer trading season” is over , we may see a much different trading environment than we have in the last few weeks.

Be aware of the trading environment we are in and how it affects your trading and trading style.
