“An Odd Rhythm Today After the Long Weekend”

Market had some what of an odd rhythm today after the long weekend. We saw big moves in both currencies and bonds. I think that we should see clearer picture tomorrow as more traders will be back after Labor day + we have a few economic reports while today we did not have any reports.
Some levels to watch for tomorrows action from the hourly chart below.

September Started Out with an Impressive Rally!

The slew of reports due tomorrow and Friday, will determine if this market will visit 1093 followed by 1106
or if this is the extend of the bounce. If I had to guess based on the momentum, I would say there is a good chance we will visit the 1100 area but of course this is just a guess….

“A Recipe for a much Different Trading Day”

We have a full day of reports tomorrow, including FOMC MINUTES. that should be a recipe for a much
different trading day than we had today.

I would categorize today’s session, as lower volume, lower volatility but yet wide enough ranges on the stock indices to produce different set ups to go with the reversal trend. If I had to guess for tomorrow session, I would guess higher volatility with swings in both direction. Knowing what type of trading day you are in early enough or the type of personality the market is having on any certain trading day is HUGE in my opinion as different types of trading days require different approaches/ methods and trading style.

Cannon Trading: A Full Service Futures and Commodities Brokerage Firm

“‘if we break down below 1078, my guess is we will resume selling pressure”

yesterday I wrote the folowing:

“On a different note, I got a blue diamond for tomorrow’s session which can mean potential up day if the futures market can break above 1083.00 or….continued decline if it fails to gain some upside momentum. Well the market broke 1083 overnight and continued as high as 1098 which is right above the nearest FIB level.”

What’s next one might ask? If we can hold 1078 then there is more upside potential, if we break down below 1078, my guess is we will resume selling pressure. Daily chart for review below:

Futures Market & Commodity Trading Daily Levels August 6th 2010

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

“‘the futures market is possibly over bought”

Monthly unemployment numbers tomorrow before the cash open will provide the futures market with some direction and may get us out of this ‘summer low volume’ type of trading.

Plan your trade, trade your plan. Stay focused and ONLY try to day-trade when you are focused. Remember to stay disciplined and know that no one trade or trading day will determine your trading fate. Even when day-trading (which is a short term action), the end results is of long term progress effort and the sum of many trades.

On a different note, below is a daily chart of the Mini Dow Jones. I got a red diamond ahead of tomorrows session. For me, that means that ‘the futures market is possibly over bought ‘. The way I like to play this set up is that if we break below 10550, we have a chance for a stronger move down. On the other hand, if we can keep above it, we may see 10720 soon.

Best Trading Practices: Always Ask your Futures Broker July 30th 2010

Friday, July 30th, 2010

“Last Trading day of the month tomorrow.”

At any time traders, especially self directed futures traders, must be aware of first notice day, last trading, economic reports etc.

Tomorrow is first notice day for August Gold futures contract – As your futures and commodity broker we try our best to keep many of you informed via this daily blog but always make sure you contact your futures broker with any questions you may have.

Daily chart of September e-mini Dow Jones below for review. I am not sure about direction to be honest. Both bulls and bears have a case and at this point we are trading in a band between 10293 and 10536, which is a wide trading range.
