May started with some of the European markets closed or abbreviated due to “May Day”.\u00a0Nice up move on stocks and nice down move on bonds\/ 10 years.\u00a0\u00a0I mentioned this before on how I like bonds and 10 years as another market to observe and day trade.\u00a0\u00a0It has a different personality and behaves quite differently than stock index futures ( many times inverse correlation), energy or metal futures.<\/p>\n

Interest Rates, 10\u00a0year\u00a0and 30\u00a0year.<\/p>\n

In most platforms, the symbols are ZB for\u00a030 year\u00a0bonds and ZN for\u00a010 year\u00a0notes. The current front month is June which is M. So ZBM6 for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Tick Size

These contracts are often affected by many of the economic reports that come out at 8:30 Am Eastern and there is very active volume between the hours of 8 am EST and 3 PM EST<\/p>\n

Volume on both contracts is very good. Ten years will often have 1 million contracts traded per day<\/p>\n

(might be the second most active US futures market after the mini SP 500) and the bonds will\u00a0avg. around 300,000 contracts.<\/p>\n

These markets can experience very volatile movements during and right after different reports but then will often trade smooth or in an intraday trend the rest of the day.<\/p>\n
