Weekly options:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the last few\u00a0years\u00a0the\u00a0CME group\u00a0added weekly options to a variety of markets. It started with the highly liquid\u00a0mini SP 500 contract\u00a0and then trickled down to other markets such as crude oil, gold, bonds,\u00a0grains\u00a0and currencies to name a few.<\/p>\n

So what’s the big deal you may ask as there are many different futures\u00a0contacts\u00a0and options contracts listed on more than a few global exchanges?<\/p>\n

From my point of view, the weekly options are a great tool for\u00a0short term\u00a0traders to have in their trading arsenal for two main reasons:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Ability to use these weekly options as a way to speculate on the direction of the markets without the need to use stops.<\/li>\n
  2. The weekly options offer the short term traders who use futures an alternative to placing stops by using the options as protection\/insurance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you ever day-traded futures or traded futures for\u00a0short term\u00a0duration ranging from hours to days you know that trading without a stop is detrimental for your physical and financial\u00a0well being…yet that being said many of us got stopped out to see the market coming right back to where we thought and wanted it to move towards….<\/p>\n

    In the next few\u00a0days\u00a0we will post a new article about this topic written by my colleague John Thorpe, in between feel free\u00a0to contact us with ANY questions about trading futures in general and\u00a0 weekly options in specific.<\/a><\/p>\n
