Spotlight on the Fed \/ Economy<\/h1>\n

Right up to yesterday\u2019s Producer Price Index, the U.S. economy has posted inflation measurements not seen in four decades.\u00a0And yet, stocks<\/a> and bonds<\/a> continue to\u00a0rally (the latter an inverse relationship to interest rates) and gold<\/a> and silver<\/a> remain under pressure.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Reading into this, from the Fed.\u2019s standpoint (and they look at numerous other data points to guide their policy), they have felt they can remain cautious in their stance on raising interest rates \u2013 at least until pandemic-related influences on the economy abate (think supply chain shortages and resulting higher demand and prices for goods).\u00a0With that said, the thinking on rate policy has indeed begun to stir.\u00a0The argument that inflation is mostly transitory has been challenged \u2013 by rising wages and pretty resilient energy prices \u2013 a category traditionally kept outside core inflation measurements.\u00a0It seems the last several FOMC meetings have been deemed the defining moment for the Fed. and their stance for the future of the U.S. economy.\u00a0Stay tuned.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
