Size does Matter<\/h1>\n

\u00a0In an effort to keep up with appropriate volatility scans, the CME is again increasing the good faith deposits required to trade WTI Crude<\/a>, Heating oil<\/a> and RBOB Gasoline futures.<\/a><\/div>\n
Recently the margins have increased for Wheat and Gold futures as well as the stock indices for good reason. Geopolitical risk has put these markets on notice that the margins, already low, were not sufficient to protect clients and firms from the extreme price action these commodities have been experiencing.<\/div>\n
The intraday moves have been nothing short of jaw dropping; with opportunity comes risk.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Many are aware of the smaller sized Micro Emini stock indices for the S&P 500 MES<\/a>, Nasdaq 100 MNQ<\/a> , Dow30 MYM<\/a> and Russell 2000 M2K<\/div>\n
(all indices roll from March to June this Thursday and Friday)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Did you know there were also other Micro contracts to take advantage of many of these futures contracts outsized price swings? And they are liquid too!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
For the WTI Crude<\/a>, the Comex Gold<\/a>, Crypto Currencies and EuroCurrency<\/a> contracts.<\/div>\n
\u00a0The WTI Contracts overnight margin requirement is now going to be set tonight @ $13,500.00 and most clearing firms would rather not give a break for Day trading margins<\/div>\n

The answer to participate in the crude market if the current volatility is too rich for your blood, you may take a look at the Micro\u2019s :<\/div>\n
The exchange has increased the margin several times over the past week and today\u2019s increases are here and currently no break for Daytrading..<\/div>\n

MORE CME energy\u00a0margin increases:<\/div>\n

CL $11,550 –> $13,200<\/a><\/div>\n
HO $12,200 –> $14,300<\/a><\/div>\n
RB $11,100 –> $13,200<\/a><\/div>\n

You do however, have two smaller sized contracts that are plenty liquid,\u00a0\u00a0the QMj22 that is a 500bbl contract\u00a0and trades in .025 increments\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0110.025, 110.050, 110.075\u00a0and so on..\u00a0the margin is \u00bd the full size contract\u00a0or $6750.00<\/div>\n

And you also have the micro WTI Crude Oil\u00a0MCLJ22\u00a0a 100 bbl contract\u00a0\u00a01\/10 the size\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0that trades in minimum increments like the full size.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0100.02,100.03,100.04\u00a0and so on..\u00a0the\u00a0margin\u00a0is 1\/10th\u00a0or\u00a01320.00 per\u00a0contract\u00a0\u00a0The micro\u2019s also give you the ability to trade as many crude contracts incrementally in 100 barrel units.<\/div>\n
