Global Growth Uncertainty = Great Opportunity and Risk<\/h1>\n

Today the IMF stated that it expects global economic growth to slow significantly this year \u2013 from 6.1% in 2021 down to 3,6% in 2022.\u00a0The war in Ukraine is the most impactful catalyst to the downturn, its effects spreading most notably to higher food and energy prices as well as disruptions in global supply chains and trade.\u00a0The pandemic continues to take a toll on growth as well with China\u2019s growth forecast downgraded in the face of that country\u2019s latest measures to combat the latest variant spread: lockdowns imposed nationally with some encompassing entire cities.\u00a0Against this backdrop, central banks around the world are grappling with decisions to tamp down inflation.\u00a0IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgleva put it succinctly: \u201cThis is the most universally complex policy environment of our lifetime.\u201d<\/div>\n

This is an uncertain outlook and it translates to commodities prices across nearly all asset classes.\u00a0Volatility remains the theme of the markets and to restate from past blogs, great opportunity and risk are both easy to find.<\/div>\n
