General:<\/strong>\u00a0it\u2019s that time of the month again: we\u2019re a couple of days from\u00a0when the Labor Dept. releases its monthly Non-farm payrolls report.\u00a0It\u2019s widely considered to be one of the most important and influential measures of the U.S. economy and the report is released at 7:30 A.M., Central Time on the first Friday of the month.<\/p>\n

To review, the Labor Dept.\u2019s Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys about 141,000 businesses and government agencies, representing approximately 486,000 individual work sites.\u00a0The report excludes farm workers, private household employees, domestic household workers and non-profit organization employees.\u00a0The report also includes other detailed industry data including the overall unemployment rate as a percentage of the total labor force that is unemployed but actively seeking work, wages, wage growth and average workday hours.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Energy:<\/strong>\u00a0West Texas crude oil futures<\/a> (basis Aug.) is trading up \u00b1$2.50\/barrel \/ \u00b13% today near $72\/barrel on the heels of joint Saudi Arabia \/ Russia announcements of supply cuts.\u00a0The former announced it would extend its\u00a0voluntary output cut of 1 million barrels per day out to August.\u00a0Russia committed to lowering its August output and export levels by 500,000 barrels per day.\u00a0Typically, the Fourth of July holiday marks the peak of the U.S. travel season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
