Futures Trading: What to Watch Wednesday, August 26th, 2026

Futures traders head into Wednesday’s session facing a heavy slate of market-moving economic reports, highlighted by Core PCE, Preliminary GDP, Durable Goods Orders, Personal Income and Spending at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by Crude Oil Inventories at 10:30 a.m. ET and remarks from FOMC member Michael Barr later in the morning.
Equity Index Futures
Equity index futures remain in longer-term uptrends, with the E-mini S&P 500 closing at 7,692.00 and trading above its daily pivot of 7,688.83, while the Nasdaq 100 and Russell 2000 continue to show relative strength.
Commodity Futures
In the commodity space, crude oil remains under pressure after a sharp 5.27% decline Tuesday, settling at 82.36, while precious metals continue to hold firm with gold and silver maintaining bullish longer-term trends. Grain markets showed notable strength, with wheat, corn, and soybeans posting gains and continuing to recover toward key resistance levels.
