Futures markets remain mixed as traders balance shifting economic expectations and key central bank developments.

Futures

Equity Futures

Equity index futures continue to show weakness, with the E-mini S&P 500 and E-mini Nasdaq trading below their 30-day highs and maintaining a bearish short-term trend. In the commodity sector, energy markets are finding support, with crude oil advancing more than 2.5% on the session, while copper and silver also post gains.

AGs/Reports

However, agricultural markets remain under pressure, led by declines in wheat, soybeans, and lean hogs. Looking ahead, market participants will focus on a busy economic calendar Thursday, highlighted by the European Central Bank’s interest rate decision, monetary policy statement, and press conference, along with U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) data, weekly unemployment claims, natural gas storage figures, crude oil inventories, and the 30-year Treasury bond auction.

These releases could provide important clues regarding inflation trends, monetary policy expectations, and overall market direction heading into the latter part of the week.

December 10 Year Treasury Notes

The December 10 year treasury notes satisfied the third downside PriceCount objective and are consolidating their trade. If the chart can resume its break with new sustained lows, we are left with the low percentage fourth count to aim for in the 105^27 area.

The PriceCount study is a tool that can help to project the distance of a move in price. The counts are not intended to be an ‘exact’ science but rather offer a target area for the four objectives which are based off the first leg of a move with each subsequent count having a smaller percentage of being achieved.

It is normal for the chart to react by correcting or consolidating at an objective and then either resuming its move or reversing trend. Best utilized in conjunction with other technical tools, PriceCounts offer one more way to analyze charts and help to manage your positions and risk.
