CPI Heads Up!

cpi

Heads up: Tomorrow’s CPI report could be a major market mover, especially for interest rate-sensitive products like Treasury futures. As traders’ position for potential surprises in inflation data and the Fed rate outlook, the bond market often becomes the center of attention.

ZB

Trading ZB (30-Year U.S. Treasury Bond) futures offers a different pace compared to stock index futures. With a larger tick value of $31.25 per tick, price action tends to be more deliberate and less noisy, appealing to traders who prefer a slower market rhythm. Exchange fees are also generally lower than many equity index contracts, making ZB an attractive choice for active traders. Volume is strong with large bid and offers on both sides during active trading hours.

Treasury Markets

Ahead of major economic releases such as CPI, Treasury markets can see increased volume and volatility as participants adjust expectations for future interest rates, creating unique opportunities for both day traders and swing traders.

December KC Wheat

December KC Wheat satisfied its second downside PriceCount objective and is showing near term stability with a consolidation trade. If the chart can resume its break with new sustained lows, the third could would project a possible slide to the $6.48 area. The low percentage fourth upside objective to $9.85 is not shown here for presentation purposes.

The PriceCount study is a tool that can help to project the distance of a move in price. The counts are not intended to be an ‘exact’ science but rather offer a target area for the four objectives which are based off the first leg of a move with each subsequent count having a smaller percentage of being achieved.

It is normal for the chart to react by correcting or consolidating at an objective and then either resuming its move or reversing trend. Best utilized in conjunction with other technical tools, PriceCounts offer one more way to analyze charts and help to manage your positions and risk.
