What Futures Traders Should Watch This Week
By John Thorpe, Senior Broker

A Hot week ahead and that’s not just if you are south of the 37th parallel as summer bleeds into Fall the next week of data the markets will need to discount is far reaching.
We’ll have everything needed to move the markets as we do expect increased volatility from Government data releases, a baker’s dozen of Fed member speeches, a smattering of earnings reports this, in addition to the lasting uncertainty in the Middle East, Black Sea shipping traffic and the Russia Ukraine conflict. Summertime war strategies are giving way to shortened daylight and long diplomatic efforts.
U.S. Dollar
The U.S. Dollar is strengthening as interest rates are the highest since 2004, a 5% 2 yr note is looking very good to many investors nervous about the remaining gas in the equity markets bullishness., Just this past Monday, during the bull move to near record highs.
The last time the index advanced at least 1% to within 1% of a new 52-week high as new lows outnumbered new highs was Dec. 21, 1999, a few months before the Dotcom Bubble top.
That’s according to Jason Goepfert, who founded SentimenTrader and now serves as an adviser at NextGen News.
The Economic Data releases will also find reason to potentially roil the markets, Non Farm Payrolls, JOLTS, Core PCE, GDP, and CB Consumer confidence headline the most impactful data releases.
Energies during Conflict
The energy’s, metals, securities, grains and interest rates are swirling in the uncertainty from a lack of resolution in the attempted unwinding of the Iranian nuclear program.
Don’t let your guard down just yet, the fog continues, tune into the Sunday evening markets to witness reactions to the weekend news streams, manufactured or true.
Plan your trade and trade your plan!
