Hello Traders,

For 2015 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

Hello Traders,

Earnings season is well underway and it this point I am clueless as to which way one should trade this market outside the day-trading time frame….looks like we have about 200 mini NASDAQ points of “existing range/bans for now.

I would look for either a break higher or failure to do so as the first clue. Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Traders,

For 2014 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

Hello Traders,

Today’s correction another opportunity to go long?

To be honest, I am not sure and some what exhausted from trying to predict what I consider a manipulated market…yet I am still trying to look at the chart and look for clues from the technical perspective even though stock indices have not really reacted to technicals in a while….

Daily chart of the mini NASDAQ 100 for your review below. I was hoping we can close below the 2073.50 level, which we did not BUT we were able to break it today.

Some possible levels to watch in the chart below:

Hello Traders,

For 2014 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

FRONT MONTH for stock index futures and currencies is now SEPTEMBER.

Make sure you are trading the September contract.

I was asked this morning, “what futures markets would you recommend a newcomer to start with?”

While the answer will vary based on perspective trader risk capital, risk tolerance, personality etc. I do think that there are a few markets that might be a better start for first time futures day trader.

I personally would say, leave the mini SP alone. Yes it has the biggest volume but there is quite a bit of size on the bid/ask that may make this frustrating for new traders.

My favorite markets to share with first time traders are:

mini Dow

ten year notes

and

mini crude/ mini gold

The mini Dow moves similar to mini SP but the value per point/tick is smaller, still has good volume but not as hard to get filled on the limits as the mini SP.

The 10 year notes are usually less volatile than the other markets mentioned. Completely different type of trading personality and offer a good diversification option for new traders and experienced traders and they trade in halves, so each tick is $15.625 versus each tick of the 30 years which is worth $31.25.

The mini gold and mini crude are another good option because it is the smaller contract size of two markets that can really move, offer volatility and RISK but the availability of the mini sized contracts make these two a better option for beginners until one has experience / risk capital and appetite for the standard contract sizes of gold and crude oil.

Hello Traders,

For 2013 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

I had 3376 as potential target for the mini NASDAQ for the last week or so. To be honest, I DID NOT think it would make it there but it did…question is now what?

If you are a counter trend trader, you can go short against this level risking a few points above it. If you are more on the conservative side, you probably want to wait for a trigger that the market is running out of steam before trying the short side….That trigger may be a cross over of stochastic on the hourly chart, perhaps a break below today’s lows….really depends on the style of trade you feel comfortable with and the time frame you are trading. The chart below is more for what I call swing trading rather than day trading.

There are many different ways to lose money trading futures and very few to make $$$. Some methods will work on some markets, some of the time. I have not found a way that works on all markets all the time….

Daily chart for your review below:

E-Mini NASDAQ 100 Futures Technical Analysis for July 16th 2013

July 16th, 2013 Filed under Future Trading News, Futures Broker, Index Futures | Comment (0)

Sept. Mini NASDAQ futures ( symbol on most platforms is NQU3) are trading at 3070.00 at the time I am writing this analysis – July 16th 2013.

As a commodity futures broker,  I am going to focus on the technical aspect of this market and provide my technical opinion, I think it is important to be aware of the fundamental aspects and the events coming up which can move the market either way. To start with,  Traders are probably already looking forward to today’s testimony before Congress by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. The big question he will be asked is how does the FED plans on tapering down the massive injection of cash or what we know as QE. I think the reason the markets are down today is in anticipation of this testimony. Economic numbers will continue to pour in as well as a G20 meeting and earning season is in place.
