Hello Traders,

For 2013 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

Big moves in many markets. High volatility. Once again, I am not a fan of entering trades without stops….if you are a day trader and got in the wrong way today on the currencies for example, with out a stop….by the time you were finally able to collect your emotions and thoughts you may have been pretty deep in the hole. So yes, stops will take you out with a loss and sometimes you will get stopped out just to see the market go back your way, but for me personally stops are what prevent traders from “blowing up” and making a small bad day into a terrible day. Expect more volatility tomorrow as we have monthly Non farm Payroll report early in the morning.

Hello Traders,

I have been talking on and off about the downside to stock index futures over the past 10 days or so, so I am sharing my daily chart of the mini Russell 2000 for your review. Notice we are sitting right on first major support or what I consider the next decision point, can we break below and build value below this level or vise versa? Hello Traders,

For 2013 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

Every so often something happens in the market that reinforces my personal belief that day-traders should use stops on each trade….I have traded before with clients and on behalf of clients where our thought was “lets see what the market does…..” WRONG!Yes, maybe 8 of 10 times, it turns out to be OK to “see what the market does” but the 1 or 2 times out of ten when all of a sudden, fed official is speaking, “fat finger accident” take place or just simply big volume, big move comes into the market and by the time we decide what to do we already took such a big loss is simply not worth it.
