Hello Traders,

Much has been written about the vote in the UK to exit or stay with the European Union, “BREXIT”.

The voting begins at 7AM (UK) and closes at 10PM (UK) on Thursday June 23.

We expect this to create some extreme volatility in many markets for the next few days and encourage all of you to  be aware and use conservative approach rather than aggressive approach.

A quick article/outlook with chart I wrote for Equities.com

https://www.equities.com/news/the-million-dollar-question-the-british-pound-and-brexit

While some of our platforms will maintain normal day trading margins, other platforms will require higher day trading margins over the next few days.

Most markets will require 100% of the overnight margins for day trading as well with some markets like currencies may even require 200%. This will not affect our clients trading with transactAT or Shogun at this time.

Feel free to call us at 800-454-9572 with any questions. Continue reading “BREXIT May Create Extreme Volatility 6.23.2016”

Hello Traders,

For 2016 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

Voted #1 futures trading blog!

Greetings!

Why I like to use tick and volume charts for scalping

Today I decided to touch more on an educational feature rather than provide a certain market outlook.

Many of my clients and blog readers know that when it comes to short term trading I am a fan of using volume charts, tick charts, range bar charts and Renko charts rather than the traditional time charts like the 1 minutes, 5 minutes etc.

My rule of thumb is that if you as a trader make decisions based on charts that are less than 15 minutes time frame, it may be worth your time to research, back test and do some homework as to potentially using other type of charts like volume charts , Range charts etc.

Volume charts will draw a new bar once a user defined number of contracts traded. Example mini SP 10,000 volume chart will draw a new bar once 10,000 contracts traded.

Range bar charts will draw new charts once price action has exceeded a user pre define price or ticks range. Example might be an 18 ticks range bar chart on crude oil.

Hello Traders,

For 2016 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

Greetings!

Trade management is more important than Market Analysis….

I have done this so many times before, my colleagues tell me when it happens to them as well as some of my clients….You have the perfect read on the market. The market actually ends up doing what you thought it would and in a BIG way…yet somehow you manage to LOSE money despite your perfect analysis. To me this is sometimes more frustrating than having a bad losing day.

What happened?

Poor trade management, that’s what happened.

Yes, reading the market well is a much needed quality if you plan on making money rather than contributing donations to the market but more important is how you manage the trade / position once you read the market. Much easier said than done, especially after the fact but here are some tips that I am hoping will assist you in the next time you have a good market read.

5. Futures Economic Reports for Tuesday December 2, 2015

Hello Traders,

For 2015 I would like to wish all of you discipline and patience in your trading!

Wishing all of you a great trading month in December.
My name is Ilan Levy-Mayer and I am the Vice President and Senior Futures Broker at Cannon Trading. I came up with the following personal observations after serving online traders worldwide for more than 17 years.

8 Steps to Successful Day-Trading

The following steps are guides to progress, and are not necessarily in sequential order. Some of them are always required, but each futures trader is different and will relate to these stages in their own ways. While attempting to learn and progress, one must keep in mind that futures trading is risky and can involve significant losses.

1. Education

Hopefully if you are already trading you have completed your initial education: contract specs, trading hours, futures brokers, platforms, the opportunities as well as the risk and need to use risk capital in futures, and so on. Understanding this information is essential to futures trading. The second type of education is ongoing: learning about trading techniques, the evolution of futures markets, different trading tools, and more.

2. Find a System

I am definitely not advising you to go on the web and subscribe to a “black box” system (using buy/sell triggers if don’t know why they are being generated). What I am advising is developing a trading technique: a general set of rules and a trading concept. As you progress, you may want to put the different rules and indicators into a computerized system, but the most important factor is to have a focus and a plan. Don’t just wake up in the morning and trade “blank.”
