Big moves across the board this week. Metals had a small move to the downside yesterday and BIG move higher today.

Crude and natural gas big moves…

Financials been moving both up and down….

Notice a correlation between bitcoin and gold? Perhaps inverse correlation?

The bottom line is that the markets are moving. Even stock indices had a small downside move today for a change.

Make sure you are ready for a different type of trading environment with higher volatility.

We are here for you to bounce ideas off, feedback, questions and more!

Greetings!

Front month for stock indices is December!!

Looks like volatility is back…usually it will stay for a while so time to adjust your trading strategy you were using in June, July and August and expand it to the higher volatility.

This may mean looking for larger target profits, using wider stops, perhaps smaller trade size, perhaps being “picky” with your entry level etc.

If you need help, feel like chatting markets or getting feedback  – we are here!

Interesting price action today.

Market visited both positive and negative territory with better volume than last few sessions.

Market made recent highs at 1218.75 yet finished slightly lower to unchanged.

Tomorrow is the last trading day of the month.

Overall as one can see from chart below, open interest has risen since we first sold off hard, while volume has dropped since the sell off during the first few days of August.

What does it mean to me? My guess is that the bounce we have seen after the 1077 Aug 9th low on the SP500 is a bear market rally. While we may see a bounce to 1244 -1283 levels, I feel there are bigger chances for the downtrend to resumeand for the market to visit Aug 9th lows and perhaps lower.

As always the “Million $$ questions” are:

When does one enter?

How does one protect oneself in case this analysis is wrong?

How does one manage the trade once one has answered the first two questions above….

What platforms hold up during high volatility futures market trading sessions?

Over the last few weeks and particularly the last 4-5 trading sessions, we have witnessed unprecedented volatility, volume and market speed.

I want to share some of my experience as I have been trading with clients and definitely following the second-to-second moves. I have two very powerful machines along with multiple internet connections that are very fast. I must admit that during these times when the SP moved as much as 20 points in minutes and 10-12 points in seconds, two platforms stood out in keeping up with market data without any delays.

On my two machines I run CQG, eSignal, NINJA, PFG best, MFGlobal and couple more. All very solid, respectable trading and charting packages. However the two that ranked the highest in my opinion in regards to speed, no latency and reliability are TransactAT (TransactAT demo here), and E-Futures (E-Futures demo here). I welcome you to contact us for more information/ feedback and/ or to try a free demo if you not already using one of these two.

On a different note, below you will see a screen shot from today’s live trading signals webinar I hold DAILY. If you have not had the trial before, feel free to register and come visit the live charts and the set ups I share real time.
