Ilan: Tell us a little bit about your trading background and how you got started trading.

Carolyn: My entry to this business was not typical. I never planned on it. I started on Wall Street at 18 years old as a secretary/gopher to the Government bond department of Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette. My only real skill at that point was typing. Since I was always willing to work hard they gave me an opportunity to move to Chicago when I was 20 to work on the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange working with Financial Futures. When I moved to Chicago I took a basic course in Technical Analysis of the markets and was hooked. The rest is history. I currently provide market analysis based on Fibonacci ratios and market patterns. I also teach those who want to learn to do this analysis on their own.

2. Hot Market Report: Bitcoin RealTime Index ( Bitcoin futures are almost here)

BitCoin futures; What was once a digital currency that attracted a small following of cryptocurrency enthusiasts is now an asset into which many financial institutions are looking to expand. And it didn’t take long for the world’s largest futures exchange, CME Group, to recognize the opportunity to participate in Bitcoin’s growth with the launch of its Bitcoin futures contract. This marks the involvement of a major player in the cryptocurrency space and offers traders a solid option when it comes to trading cryptocurrencies. And because the product is traded and cleared on a regulated exchange, it could attract larger institutional investors, creating more liquidity and expanding the market. Traders not only will be able to participate in Bitcoin’s price increase via long positions in the Bitcoin futures contract, they can also play the short side or hedge against outright Bitcoin positions. Considering Bitcoin has seen three price swings of 20% or more just in the last month, volatility seekers may find the futures contract alluring. That certainly indicates the CME is approaching this launch with diligence. Since Bitcoin’s value is essentially disconnected from what one clearing firm executive termed, any "economic reality or circumstance in the real world," the question arises: what are the outer limits of the asset’s volatility? It’s a valid and cautionary inquiry. The contract’s specifications include a cash settlement of the futures contract, intra-day price fluctuation limits similar to those in place for stock index futures. Pending regulatory review, look for the CME to open trading by the end of the year. The chart here is of the BRTI - Bitcoin realtime index, which will be the underlying index for nthe futures contract.
