This week’s highlighted Market is soybeans. Soybeans futures are part of the GRAINS family which includes 4 types of Wheat, Corn, Soymeal, Oats, Rough Rice and Bean Oil. All traded on the CBOT/GLOBEX exchange.
Summertime can be a volatile time for Grain Futures, just as winter can be the most volatile time for Natural Gas. This fundamental push accompanied by technical extremes, should cause additional volatility and potential opportunity along with risk.
To the right is a weekly chart for soybeans. You can see ZS is at a critical support of the previous down move 856.25 low week close from December 2015.
If we close under this support you should expect to try the previous support from July 2018 around 830s. If we do not close below support, I would expect to retest resistance around 890.
You can also see the level I marked for when China committed to their soybean purchase. This can be used as a fundamental resistance around $920.00 . One thing to be aware, soybeans have limit moves, you can read more about this topic using this link.
This chart was prepared using E-Futures Int'l software, which you can demo for 28 days with realtime data.
