U.S. Dollar Index Bulls Make Headway this WeekThe U.S. dollar index is a basket of six major world currencies weighted against the greenback. It's an important "outside market" that can have a daily influence over many markets. For example, on a day that the U.S. dollar index is posting solid gains, that's a bearish underlying factor for most raw commodities. See on the daily bar chart for nearby U.S. dollar index futures that price action this week has negated a downtrend line. The USDX bulls and bears are now back on a level near-term technical playing field.
